Members section news
by Chris on Feb.02, 2010, under Featured News/Reviews
For a long time running, JPopular.com has not been updated in terms of music reviews, videos, let alone anime. It has been partly because I’ve been busy or too tired to work on this website. A person gave the suggestion that a member’s section will help keep the site running itself. Now, as much as that sounds logical, I’ve tried to build a community around my website without any luck. However, I do believe in the prospects of a few individuals that may be willing to help out in making the members section work.
I am currently adding a WordPress installation for the members section. It will still be some time before it is ready, but I want to make things clear. I will be moderating posts and members for this section. My web host prohibits any pornography or slander to be posted. It also prohibits me from spreading copyrighted material by other artists. There will be rules and appointed moderators. If I have to, I will close the members section if things get out of hand.
Now that the messy stuff is out of the way, I would like to know who would be willing to help me out? Give me a couple good reasons why I should give you collaborative rights and/or editor rights and how you will make the experience at JPopular.com better.
How long has it been?

continue
Hey everybody, it has been a while since my last post. Sure this site seems dead, but our viewership seems to remain at a constant flow. If you’ve been checking back periodically, thanks for the support. Too bad the internet won’t allow for the transmission of hugs or cookies. Well, I could ship cookies but that would be expensive.
Here’s what’s coming up on Jpopular.com. We will resume music reviews, but I plan on expanding our coverage. It’s been a while since we’ve done any snack and candy reviews. I also want to try and cook Asian cuisine, so that may become a photo adventure for the website. As for member sections… I will have to try and work that out. I’m a little unsure how this will go, but I may set an area off for members to log in and be able to add posts to the website.
What are my current interests:
1. X Japan “I.V.” PV
2. Facebook
3. Rock Band 2 because I have X Japan’s “I.V.” DLC’d.
4. Call of Duty: World at War
5. Getting a copy of Iron Man and finally watching it for the first time.
So, check back people and see if we have anything new in the coming months. School was hectic, but I should be able to push stuff out this summer. Thanks a lot for visiting!
The Hosted becomes a Host
by Chris on Jan.10, 2009, under Featured News/Reviews
So, a friend took up my offer to use up one of my domains to create his own site. You may know him as Max on this site, but over there he’s Spartakips. His site is totally unlike mine in the aspect that it covers his own Adobe Flash games. Yes, an aspiring developer in the world of online Flash gaming. I wish I took the time to learn Flash like him, then I could be powerful awesome as well. I’m currently sharing this hosting plan with him, although I’m the one paying. It’s cool though because I can SP@M his side of the FTP!
There isn’t much there because he just started working on it. This is his first time with the WordPress platform, so he is still learning how to work with it. I’m of course there to guide him with my limited knowledge as well. If you’d like to keep track of his games and sites’ progress, check it out at http://www.productionkips.com.

Jpopular.com V.3!
by Chris on Dec.25, 2008, under Featured News/Reviews

We’ve officially launched our new layout! It’s our 3rd version on the WordPress platform and I still am loving every aspect of it. This is also a great time because it’s Christmas. (continue reading…)
Finals and a Down MM-BBS.org
by Chris on Dec.16, 2008, under Featured News/Reviews
So, I’ve been out of the blogosphere for a while. I’ve had many projects to do for classes and funny thing is that most have been websites. I also have finals that I need to study for. So, the layout update is going to be AFTER finals and sometime during Christmas time. Maybe it will be your gift. (continue reading…)
New Layout You Say?
by Chris on Nov.20, 2008, under Featured News/Reviews
So I haven’t been updating much lately, or I have but been rather lazy with the design aspect of the site. Or have I? I’ve been working in the background off an on for Jpopular.com v.3. It’s new layout that I found online and I quickly embraced it. For a while I was trying to make another layout work, but some CSS made widgets and other plugins go haywire. I decided to go on a little search and luckily I found a very nice looking theme for WordPress. I hardly changed a thing, but I added some little widgets and plugins that is closer to a complete product. I’m going to roll this update out next week along with some new reviews. Over its lifespan, you may see some more additions and changes to the new layout. (continue reading…)
Where were you?
by Chris on Oct.26, 2008, under Featured News/Reviews
If you’ve been visiting the website, you must have been wondering what ever happened to me. I’m writing this as I’m about to get busy with my week of assignments. It’s been rather busy lately and I still have to work very hard to bring my grades back up from a horrible slump. If you have not noticed already, I have been putting all updates aside for JPopular.com in favor of my school work, sleep, and surfing the web.

A new review was posted though. If you did not see it before finding yourself on this page, you might want to double back and click on the review of Porno Graffitti’s Itaitachi Ichi single. It’s a good single, please read the review to learn more.
Again, not much time to devote to the website, so the new layout may have to wait for the summer. I am thinking of an idea as to what I want to do, but it honestly depends on how it looks and the functionality. I am also not quite skilled enough in CSS and php to really get anywhere, but I figure I can make do with what I have.
Note: The picture on the front page that leads to this post is of a dead bird a couple of friends and I found before setting up for Chuseok (Korean) event at our school.
Temporarily Postponed
by Chris on Sep.27, 2008, under Featured News/Reviews
As you can guess with the title of this post, any improvements to the site or even any updates and reviews are going to be postponed. I’ve really been busy for a while since coming back to school. I’ll try to pop a review up here and there, but most work is not going to be done for a while. I really wish I could work on the new layout before I forgot everything, but I guess that will have to wait.
One thing I’ve been able to do is the slow and gradual process of moving the Hello! Morning episodes to Megaupload. This had to be the longest dry spell on this site for a while. I just hope I can get my stuff together and be able to put up more content periodically. Wish me luck.
As busy as school gets…

You all must be wondering what happened to me. I’ve been busy getting back into the school mood. I have gotten homework and project assignments one after the other so it leaves very little of “me” time. I will be ordering a new Younha CD next week, so I’m pretty stoked about that. It’s been a while since I reviewed something, but I plan on reviewing a Porno Graffitti single that was released a little while back with a few other things I’ve found.
H!M Episodes Being Moved
If you haven’t noticed already, I’ve been slowly moving my H!M episodes over to Megaupload. I’ve determined that page receives enough visits and downloads that requires me to unload the strain from my hosting service. I hope you all can download from Megaupload, if you can’t I might be able to strike a deal with you if you e-mail at jadmin[at]jpopular[dot]com.
What Happened to the Improvements?
You will see in time. It may not be soon, but eventually improvements may roll out. They will be some very noticeable changes to how you’re going to surf this website. When it comes down to it, every thing has a life cycle and Jpopular.com is needing an upgrade.

Spore
Will Wright’s newest game comes out in the U.S. on Sunday. I can’t wait to play this game. I have it pre-ordered, but I won’t be able to pick it up. I can wait though. Spore is a simulation game that follows your creature from cell stage to space age. It allows the user see the evolutionary process in just a matter of days. You can create an omnivore, carnivore, or herbivore and eat things to grow. I look forward to having my fun with destroying other civilizations and even worlds! Chris is an angry “god”. I can’t believe I referred to myself in third person…
Square Enix wants Tecmo, but Tecmo wants Koei
Well, Tecmo rejected Square Enix to start merger talks with Koei. Is it me, or was that a bad move? Koei is definitely a smaller company than Square Enix and a merger with them would hardly benefit their development of new games. I could see that Tecmo might be afraid that Square Enix may devour them just for their human resources and skills with graphical enhancements (see DOA XTREME 2), but the offer was extended as a friendly gesture. If I were Tecmo, I would have merged with Square Enix just to have the name Square Tecmix, or Square TecNo REMix, or even Square Chex Mix. Ah, I’m done, and there goes another 100 readers!
